It was an exciting day at the club on Saturday as we hosted our final short mat tournament of the season! With an expanded draw bringing 10 teams into action across 13 rounds of play- there were many exciting games in our short style game format on the road to the final. Congratulations to Ken and Charmaine Cameron- who captured the final tourney win of the year with a 4-3 victory over Gary and Janice Marshall. In the 3rd place game- it was the team of Lowell Goulden and Brenda Reesor who topped our January and February Champions John and Ann Marie Siteman 4-2 to take out the 3rd place envelope. The consolation prize went to Paul Camilleri and Karen Harrie…… again (as they won the random draw in all 3 monthly events)! Thanks to Ann Marie and John for hosting another great event. Looking forward to having even more competition and fun in these tournaments next indoor season!

It was another great day of short mat lawn bowls today as we hosted our second “Power Pairs” tournament or as we unofficially called it- the “Ann Marie Siteman’s Birthday Tournament”! Congrats to Ann Marie and John Siteman who defended their title from last month with a nail biting 3-2 win over Ken and Charmaine Cameron (which included two replayed ends and the final end of the championship game finishing up with a tied end!). In the 3rd Place Game, it was Gary and Janice Marshall who took out a 3-2 comeback victory over Paul Camilleri and Karen Harrie (who ended up also winning our consolation price for the day). Thanks Ann Marie for organizing another fun day of bowls. If you’re wanting to get into one last short mat tournament before the end of the indoor season and the start of the outdoor season- make sure to watch out for the notice when the date gets confirmed.
It was a fun time this afternoon as we had a fun Groundhog Day Midwinter Party. Hosted by Ann Marie and John Siteman- everyone was encouraged to wear their best summery colours as we’d play some games and enjoy some fruit punch and ice cream. Thanks to everyone for coming out! Stay tuned as we’ll have our next social event (in addition to the short mat tournament on the 15th) coming soon!
What a fun day at the club today as we hosted our 1st Annual DLBC Power Pairs Short Mat Tournament! With the quick style format (4 end 3 bowl pairs matches)- there were lots of nail biting games coming right down to the last bowl.
Congrats to John and Ann Marie Siteman on picking up the title in a 5-2 win over Gary and Janice Marshall in the final. In the 3rd Place Game, it was Ken and Charmaine Cameron who defeated Brenda Reesor and Lowell Goulden 4-1 to take out the final spot on the podium. The lucky draw prize (for any team outside the top 3) went to Paul Camilleri and Karen Harrie. Thanks to Ann Marie for organizing the event, Jan for helping us with coffee and treats and to everyone who took part in our first indoor lawn bowls tourney in Nova Scotia (as far as we know!). Happy New Year everyone! Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday for our New Year’s Day Member Social for some food and fun to ring in 2025. We even had a few bowls rolled outdoors for the first time in multiple years now (as usually we’ve had snow cover on New Year’s Day). Special thanks to Mayor Andy Fillmore and Becky Kent - Councillor District 3 for visiting and chatting with members. Special thanks to Vicki Balcom and our kitchen crew for putting on a great event! Our winter schedule kicks back up after the holiday break with short mat leagues beginning next week at the clubhouse.
It was a fun afternoon at the club today as we held our first sessions of Short Mat for the season! It was nice to see lots of new players to this side of the game giving it a try and having a great time. Thanks to Debby Purdy for organizing the afternoon. Hope to see you all out playing this short mat season!
What a great weekend of bowls! Congratulations to Vicki on the title win and to Ann Marie and Joyce on their podium finishes. Thanks to everyone who helped make this weekend a great success!
Congratulations to all the participants at the 2024 Atlantic Bowls who put on an amazing show all weekend long. Special congrats to the members of Team Nova Scotia- who won the Sid Currie Trophy as the overall champion! Thanks to all the many volunteers who helped make this tournament possible!
The 2024 Atlantic Bowls Championship is officially open! Good luck to all the players who will be battling it out on our greens over the next 3 days of action. Should be a fun one. Make sure to get to the club starting at 8am tomorrow and continuing throughout the day to cheer on the players as they go for gold! Special good luck to the 17 members of DLBC who will be representing Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island's B team.
Congratulations to our own Ann Marie Siteman and Lorraine Bezanson (along with their teammates Jackie Foster and Tammy Foster-Veinot) on winning the 2024 Canadian Women’s Fours Championship this past weekend in Milton, Ontario! Also, congratulations to Vicki Balcom on an excellent run at the Nationals- finishing 4th in Women’s Singles and Triples.
